Since the beginning of 2025 Belgium and Luxembourg have decided to collaborate on 2 important research topics: Facial Recognition Prevention (F-REC) and Software Supply Chain Protection (SOLACE).

Facial Recognition Prevention (F-REC)

The primary objective of this project is to devise new adversarial AI methods to make the facial recognition of members of the army more difficult.

Today, the discussions covered very interesting topics:

  • the evolution of face recognition algorithms, starting in 1995;
  • the explainability of current face recognition algorithms;
  • the generation of realistic synthetic datasets of facial images;
  • the possible personnalization of adversarial face recognition attacks;
  • the usage of super resolution upscaling to fool face recognition algorithms.

Today the discussions covered:

  • the utilization of CodeGrid graphical representation of code to detect code vulnerabilities
  • machine learning for automatic vulnerability detection (ML4VD);
  • the secure distribution of software libraries and packages.

Today’s visit from the TruX research group marked an exciting milestone in the collaboration between Belgium and Luxembourg on two important research projects: Facial Recognition Prevention (F-REC) and Software Supply Chain Protection (SOLACE).. As these projects continue to unfold, we look forward to the innovative solutions and advancements that will emerge from this collaboration, ultimately contributing to a safer and more secure digital landscape for all.
