Researcher
As a young civil engineer from the Université Libre de Bruxelles with a specialization in electronics, Charles Beumier joined the Royal Military Academy in Brussels to conduct research in image processing. He has since worked in the fields of face recognition (earning a PhD in 3D face recognition), humanitarian demining, remote sensing, and tracking in aerial video.
In 2021, he joined the Cyber Defence Lab at the same academy to work on a project focused on securing telecommunication networks. His objective was to detect anomalies in MAP messages within the SS7 signaling protocol stack (2G and 3G).
He is currently engaged in face recognition research aimed at protecting individuals from the growing efficiency of AI systems that exploit publicly available facial data.
